Augusto "Tanquinho" Mendes

A Jiu-Jitsu master who won his debut MMA match in 36 seconds

Augusto “Tanquinho” Mendes began his BJJ career in 1997 in Brazil at the age of 14. Seven years later, Tanquinho received his black belt under Francisco Mansur. Tanquinho won BJJ world championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013 as well as other national tournaments in Brazil in 2004, 2009 and 2010.

 

Tanquinho currently lives and trains in Arizona, where he fights as a professional MMA fighter as well as coaching and referring BJJ. He is currently the head BJJ instructor at Impact MMA and one of the head instructors of the Soul Fighters BJJ team.
